Hours: Full Time Exempt
Responsible for representing and advancing the mission of the Foundation for the Diocese of Helena (FDH); for complementing the general development efforts of the Bishop of Helena by coordinating and communicating with all development entities within the Diocese. At the direction of the Board of Trustees, carry out Board policies and directives; maintain current knowledge of all planned giving instruments and their applicability to donor situations; deliver presentations and engage in one-on-one and/or team visitation with potential benefactors.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; organizational skills; initiative and the ability to work under minimal supervision; ability to work as part of an overall team to identify donors and coordinate activities to best bring donor intentions to fruition in a unified manner with the Diocese. Ability to build relationships of trust, respect and productive interaction with a variety of individuals.
Responsible for the effective administration of the FDH’s operations. Assist in the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives. Establish plans to achieve goals set by the Board of Trustees. Administer and carry out Board policy and decisions in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. Provide support to committees, and serve as ex-officio member on all committees.
Hire, supervise, and retain competent and qualified staff.
Enhance the FDH’s image by being active and visible around the Diocese, and by working closely with parishes and Diocesan ministries. Work to increase the awareness of the activities of the FDH, its programs and goals. Foster enthusiasm among the parishes and diocese to build up their endowments.
Work with staff and Finance Committee in developing an annual budget. Ensure the FDH operates within the Board-approved operating budget. Responsible for developing resources necessary to support the FDH’s mission.
Serve as a resource to trustees and Diocese development staff in the areas of planned giving and basic estate planning, applicable tax law and legislation. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in planned giving and basic estate planning. Motivate the faithful to include the Church in their estate plan. Build relationships with professional estate, legal, and tax advisors.
Assist in the development of comprehensive, proactive planned giving and fundraising program in concert with diocesan development efforts. Keep trustees/Diocese development staff informed of progress in developing major gifts and of those individuals who might be potential benefactors to the Diocese.
Act as signatory on legal documents and represent the FDH at legal proceedings as authorized by the Board. Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Must attend Protecting God’s Children Training and continue Virtus on-line training.
